The Bald Cypress is the legendary tree that is bold enough to call the Louisiana swamp its home. Its wood is prized for its ability to weather most anything, its roots run deep, and many grow to be very old. In many ways, we aim to create knives that are just like the mighty Cypress: classic, usable designs, that are built to last and that connect with folks on a very personal level. We feel like we’ve hit the mark more than ever with the all new Cypress Trapper.
This design is the culmination of over 2 ½ years of designing, planning, and research that resulted in the beautiful knife you see before you. The Cypress Trapper has all the class, feel, and attention to detail you’d expect from a classic Trapper, but with modern amenities and functionality like: a sturdy removable pocket clip, a liner locking blade, micarta or G-10 scales, a thumb stud for one-handed opening, our signature D2 steel, and a blade running on phosphorus bronze washers for smooth operation.
After years of designing and prototyping, the time came to have this knife produced, and we would accept no less than the absolute best. We searched the world over for manufacturers willing to meet our exacting requirements for attention to detail and found our answer in the hands of the master craftsmen of Maserin Cutlery of Maniago, Italy. Needless to say, we are more than pleased at the results.
Without further ado, we are proud to introduce the Cypress Trapper as the newest member of the Smith & Sons family.
