SMITH & SONS CUSTOM SHOP – AMERICAN ELK ANTLER
After months of requests, American Elk Antler is making its return.
We’re currently building a small batch of Braves & Axioms featuring hand-cut and shaped American Elk Antler scales, paired with Blackout Forced Patina Magnacut blades. Each handle is shaped individually by hand. Every knife has its own unique texture, grain, and natural variation.
Like last year’s release, these knives will be built in very limited quantities and finished to the same high standards of fit, finish, and craftsmanship that define our Custom Shop.
We’re targeting a release sometime during the week of June 7–13. No exact date just yet, but if you’ve been waiting for another chance at one of these, stay tuned and watch closely!

Important Notes:
Natural Variation:
Because Elk Antler is a natural material, no two knives will look exactly alike. Your knife’s scales will be similar to those pictured, but the natural patterns and coloration ensure each piece is truly one of a kind. Please review the 2nd photo in the image carousel to get a sense of the natural variation found within each batch of scales. These examples show the range of color and texture you can expect, though no two pieces are exactly alike.
Handle Care:
Elk Antler is sturdy and durable but, like all organic materials, benefits from minimal care. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, direct sunlight, or moisture (for example, leaving your knife in a hot or humid vehicle). A little care goes a long way toward keeping your handle looking beautiful for years to come.
Blackout Forced Patina:
This finish isn’t a coating, it’s a controlled patina process that develops its own look over time. Expect shifts in tone as you use the knife, giving each blade its own distinct personality.
Sheath Compatibility:
Due to the natural variation in shape and texture, Elk Antler handles are not compatible with our Kydex sheaths. Leather sheath options are recommended for the best fit and finish.
Features:
• Steel: CPM Magnacut – premium, tough, and corrosion-resistant
• Scales: Handcrafted American Elk Antler – flush-fit, hand-shaped, and naturally unique
• Blade Finish: Blackout Forced Patina – evolves with use, making each blade distinct
• Spine: Satin-finished for clean contrast
Customize Your Carry:
• Sheath Options:
- Standard Vertical Leather: a classic, no-nonsense carry style.
-Adventure Carry Leather: modular setup with multiple carry positions. Designed in-house and built from premium leather, the Adventure Carry system offers unmatched flexibility. Whether you prefer scout carry, cross-draw, high ride, drop loop, or other configurations, this setup adapts to your preferred carry style.
-Leather Pocket Carry Sheath: A clean, low-profile carry option designed specifically for the Brave. This sheath is crafted from premium leather and features a sturdy pocket clip, allowing you to carry your Brave securely inside your front pocket, much like a folding knife, but with the confidence of a fixed blade. Slim, functional, and comfortable to wear, it’s perfect for those who want to keep their knife accessible without taking up belt space.
• Multi-Sheath Discounts: Choose additional sheath packages and save when bundling.
Production Model Description:
SMITH & SONS – BRAVE (MAGNACUT EDITION)
One of our most legendary designs—now in Magnacut.
We’re excited to introduce the newest chapter in the Brave’s story—now built with Magnacut, a steel we’ve come to trust and really enjoy working with. It’s not just hype: Magnacut offers a rare combination of toughness, edge retention, and corrosion resistance, and it’s quickly become one of our favorites for real-world use.
The Brave has been with us for a long time, and for good reason. It’s one of the knives that helped put Smith & Sons on the map, and it’s been carried and used in just about every setting imaginable—from hunting camps and kitchens to overseas deployments and off-grid expeditions. It’s still compact enough for daily carry, but with enough blade to handle the tough stuff when you need it.
Equally at home in bushcraft, food prep, and everyday use, the Brave continues to deliver performance far beyond its size.
