At Smith & Sons Knife Company, we stand behind the quality of our craftsmanship and materials. Every knife we make is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for life.

 

Normal Wear, Misuse, or Neglect:

Our warranty does not cover issues caused by normal wear, misuse, or neglect. Over time, any knife will experience wear from regular use. This is expected and not considered a defect. Additionally, using your knife for purposes other than cutting (such as a hammer, chisel, pry bar, or screwdriver) will void the warranty, as will failure to properly care for your knife.

 

Natural Materials:

We often use natural materials such as wood, bone, and antler in our knives, which add unique character and beauty to each piece. These materials, however, require special care. Natural handles can be affected by environmental factors like moisture, humidity, and extreme temperatures, and over time may develop changes in appearance. While we take care to select and treat natural materials for enhanced durability, they are not covered under warranty for natural aging or wear from regular use. Proper care and storage of your knife will help preserve the condition of these handles for years to come.

 

Misuse or Alterations:

Smith & Sons knives are designed for cutting tasks and should not be used as hammers, chisels, pry bars, screwdrivers, or in any other manner not intended for the knife. Any physical or cosmetic alterations to the knife, including re-grinding, sharpening at an incorrect angle, or tampering with the handle or blade, will void the warranty.

 

Sheaths

 

Leather: Our leather sheaths are crafted to be durable, but like all leather products, they will show signs of wear over time. Leather is a natural material, and while it offers durability and aesthetic appeal, it will age and wear over time with use. Exposure to moisture, extreme temperatures, and sunlight can cause leather to dry, crack, or change in appearance. Friction-fit sheaths, in particular, may naturally loosen with age and use. Because of this, leather sheaths are not covered under warranty for normal wear and tear. If you believe your sheath has a defect that is not due to normal wear and tear, please contact us.

 

Kydex: Prolonged exposure to high heat can cause Kydex to soften, warp, or lose its shape, which may impact the fit and functionality of the sheath. Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or in hot environments, such as a car on a sunny day. Kydex sheaths deformed by extreme heat exposure are not covered under warranty for normal wear and tear. If you believe your sheath has a defect that is not due to normal wear and tear, please contact us.

 

Repair or Replacement:

If we determine that a knife has a defect caused by our craftsmanship, we will repair or replace it at our discretion. We may replace parts with those we have available, which may not be identical to the original. This warranty is non-transferable and applies only to the original owner. All warranty claims must be approved in advance. Please contact us via phone or email before sending your knife in for repair.
